A state of the art computer lab was installed with 25 student stations and $22,000 worth of educational software (typing, math, science, life skills, reading, comprehension, spelling and grammar programs). In 2001 PSE&G donated 25 student computers that were placed in the classrooms as wireless stations.
The computer lab has 25 PC’s:
Hardware, Dell SX260 Pentium 4 2.0GHz, 256MB RAM, 20GB Hard Drive, 15in. Flat Screen Monitors. The software are: Windows XP SP1, Microsoft Office XP, Various Learning applications from Sunburst, Edmark, Kidspiration, The Learning Company and Knowledge Adventure. These software applications total 8 Math software applications, 5 Reading applications and 8 Science applications ranging from Pre-K to 8th Grade. They are utilized to enhance student performance, conduct assessments and enrich our students’ educational experience.
A firewall was established in June to ensure student internet safety is monitored. All student websites are assigned through the firewall and no out side internet surfing is available. All PC’s have anti-virus software. The firewall does web filtering and does not allow students to access inappropriate sites such as Sexual or explicit content, chat rooms, free web based email, etc.
Liberty also has a Cisco Wireless Network that ranges throughout the entire building. Research websites will be assigned and a technology curriculum will be written and implemented by classroom teachers for the 2003-2004 school year. Each classroom has a 32-inch television monitor and VCR capability to utilize educational supplemental materials.
Our technology goal is to expand computer stations into the classroom until our ratio of student/computers reach 1:3.
