Out of School Suspension


For the offenses listed below, the school will suspend the student from 1 to 10 days. The maximum amount of out of school suspension that a student may receive is three. On the fourth suspendable offense, the student will be suspended indefinitely and placed on probation. A hearing with the disciplinary committee will follow. Depending on the severity of any of these offenses, the Dean of Students and/or the Principal can bypass the out of school suspension and go right to indefinite suspension and probation.


OFFENSE PENALITY (Ist TIME) PENALITY (ADDITIONAL TIMES)
Possessing or using a controlled substance in school or on school grounds. 10 day suspension. Parent/Guardian contacted. Refer to Crisis Intervention. Student must participate in mandatory counseling. Student and parent/guardian must meet with Principal, Dean of Students, and Counselor upon return. 2nd Offense will lead to indefinite suspension and placement on probation. A hearing will take place with the Disciplinary Committee.
Putting hands on another student in anger. 2 day suspension. Parent/Guardian contacted. Student conference with Dean of Students and Counselor. 2nd Offense will result in 3 day suspension and mandatory parental conference with Dean of Students and Counselor. Student will participate in anger management program.
3rd Offense will result in 5 day suspension and mandatory parental conference with Principal. Continued participation in anger program.
Leaving school building without permission. 2 day suspension. Parent/Guardian contacted. Possible Police involvement. 2nd Offense 2 day suspension and mandatory parental conference with Dean of Students and Counselor. The police might be contacted.
3rd Offense 3 day suspension and mandatory parental conference with Principal. The police will be contacted.
Threatening bodily harm or property damage or using threatening language or gestures. 3 day suspension. Parent/Guardian contacted. Possible Police involvement. 2nd Offense will result in 5 day suspension and mandatory parental conference with Dean of Students and Counselor. Police will be contacted. Student will participate in anger management program.
3rd Offense will result in 10 day suspension and mandatory parental conference with Principal. Police will be contacted again. Continued participation in anger management program.
Engaging in theft. 2 day suspension. Parent/Guardian contacted. Possible Police involvement. Restitution must be made by the parent/guardian. 2nd Offense 5 day suspension and mandatory parental conference with Dean of Students and Counselor. The police might be contacted. Restitution must be made by the parent/guardian before the student can return to school.
3rd Offense 10 day suspension and mandatory parental conference with Principal. The police will be contacted. The student will be placed on probation and have a hearing with the Discipline Committee. Restitution must be made by the parent/guardian.
Engaging in intimidation, coercion, or extortion. 3 day suspension. Parent/Guardian contacted. Student conference with Dean of Students. 2nd Offense will result in a 5 day suspension and mandatory parental conference with Dean of Students and Counselor.
3rd Offense will result in a 10 day suspension and mandatory parental conference with Principal. Student will be placed on probation and have a hearing with Discipline Committee.
Behaving in a manner that seriously disrupts instruction. 2 day suspension. Parent/Guardian contacted. Student conference with Dean of Students. 2nd Offense will result in 3 day suspension and mandatory parental conference with Dean of Students and Counselor.
3rd Offense will result in 5 day suspension and mandatory parental conference with Principal.
