Friends of Liberty Academy Charter School
Background: It is recognized that there are many individuals in the community who are interested in assisting LACS but who do not have the time necessary to be an active member of the school’s Board of Trustee. There are also many individuals who are interested in supporting the school’s mission but who feel they do not know enough about the school to commit to becoming a Trustee. It is with these two situations in mind that LACS has created the Friends of Liberty Academy Charter School.
Purpose: The Friends of Liberty Academy will be comprised of leaders from the business sector and community who are committed to aiding the mission of LACS and supporting the school through various resource development activities.
Membership Responsibilities: Individuals who are interested in joining the Friends of Liberty Academy Charter School can be nominated by a member of the Board of Trustees or an existing member of the Friends. The Chairman of The Board of Trustees will appoint individuals to be a member of the Friends for an initial 1 year term followed by an appointment for a three year term based on the individual’s participation and interest. Members of the Friends of Liberty Academy Liberty Academy will:
- be invited to two meetings a year to get updated from the Board Chairman and the Principal about upcoming activities of the school and future plans;
- be asked to support the LACS through their financial support, business and professional connections and expertise, and other resources or services they choose to extend to LACS;
- be asked to assist the agency through informed advocacy regarding public issues and other such matters effecting the LACS and the services it provides;
- be invited to participate as members of the Resource Development Committee and any of the sub – Committees involved with planning special events;
- Receive mailings to attend special events of the school;
- Be considered for nomination of the Board of Trustees, if interested, and after they have served for a period of at least one year.
