Detention Program
LACS has instituted a new Detention Program. The student will attend a regular detention (to be served on Fridays after school) or on a Saturday (to be served for 2 hours on a designated Saturday). When a student is issued a detention, he/she will be given a form to take home, have signed by the parent/guardian and returned to Mr. Molloy.
Reasons for this new Detention Procedure:
1. To eliminate the need to send students to the office. If a student misbehaves, the teacher simply fills out the form and gives the student their portion. This should end the behavior immediately.
2. To eliminate some of the more frequent misbehaviors. Once the students realize that the misbehaviors will be punished with a detention, it should deter them from it.
3. To reduce the stress on the teachers and the students by minimizing classroom disruptions.
4. The punishment for the misbehavior is immediate in the form of the writing out of the detention. The idea of staying after school on Fridays or coming to school on Saturdays should cause the students to think twice.
Mr. Molloy will address each detention with each individual on a daily basis.
