Dear Parent/Guardian:
It is with enthusiasm that I welcome you to the 2010--2011 school term at Liberty Academy Charter School. While NJASK scores are pending, it is also with a sense of pride that I can report to you that during the previous school term that we expect that test scores have greatly improved. This same dedication to learning will be renewed this school year. The Liberty Academy Charter School Board of Trustees, administration, and staff were honored to have served your child.
Uniforms
The Liberty Academy Charter School has a strict uniform policy. You can purchase the necessary clothing items by referring to the attached form. All students must be dressed in their school uniforms every day, as this policy is strictly enforced. The school uniform will remain the same for the 2010-2011 academic year.
- Young men must wear navy/khaki stripe tie, white oxford shirt that has the engraved school logo and khaki pants. Cardigan sweaters with emblem are also required for winter dress.
- Young ladies in grades 6-8 must wear the engraved khaki skort, peter pan blouse, tie and blue socks.
- K-5 students wear the jumper and or khaki skort, peter pan blouse, tie and blue socks. Females can wear khaki slacks and permitted November through April. After April the normal uniforms are in effect. All uniforms must be purchased at the Uniformity store located at 3711 Bergenline Avenue, Union City, NJ. (201)864-2790. - All students are expected to wear their gym attire on the days that they have gym. Navy sweat shirt and pants with school logo.
Uniforms demonstrate school pride. I encourage you to contact Uniformity immediately to place your order.
Medical Documents
Every student received Health documents that require your attention. Please insure that all documents are completed and submitted to Liberty Academy Charter School Nurse before September 2010.
Parent Orientation
A Parent Orientation has been scheduled on August 25, 2009 at 6:00pm. Your attendance is requested.
- Kindergarten -4th Grade Orientation 5:00pm-6:00pm
- 5th – 8th Grade Orientation 6:00pm
At this meeting all your questions will be answered. I am also requesting you to R.S.V.P. as soon as possible so proper preparations can be made in advance.
Parent Orientation

Middle School Orientation
If your child is in 6th- 8th grade they will be requested to attend a middle school orientation on August 24th from 9:00am to 1:00pm. The orientation will take place at LACS. Additional information will be forthcoming. However, please save the date.
After School Program
Applications for our after-school program are located in the main office. The after-school program officially begins on September 7, 2010 from 3:15 pm – 6:00 pm. The fee is $50.00 per week.
Finally, I am asking all parents to send in to school (first day of school) a ‘disaster kit.’ This kit will contain: any medications your child takes regularly and will be supervised by the school nurse, dry food (cereal, granola bars, etc). Additionally you can include juice and/or bottled water. A change of clothing would also be useful. These kits will be stored in your child’s classroom. It is a precautionary measure only.
I invite you to visit LACS and witness the teaching and learning tools we use to enhance academic achievement. Furthermore, witness the rapid pace that Liberty Academy Charter School is accelerating with technology.
Dr. Derczo and I look forward to working with each of you this school year and invite you to visit. Our doors are always open. The first day of school is Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 8:15am-12:30pm (half day).
